New Shop Changes for Owner Operators

A Note from Lou and Josh,

The number of trucks needing service on Friday and Saturday has increased significantly as our business has changed.  Due to the increasing demand, we are implementing new guidelines for work done in our shop.

Effective immediately we are making the following changes when scheduling work in the shop:

1.     If you need the shop to work on your truck notify us 12 hours prior to arrival.  Call Kathy,  e-mail, use PeopleNet, etc. Leave specific work needed on a write-up slip unless you’ve outlined in an e-mail.

2.     If you are in town during the week and wait for the end of the week to tell us about the work needed, one of two things will happen:

  • The work won’t get done in our shop and we will try and outsource, if we can’t, then you will need to find time during your trip to work with a shop on the road, or if the work can wait, schedule in advance in our shop.

  • if we are able to accommodate your needs the shop rate will double.

3.     If you need tires, please give us 24-hour notice so we can order and have them on hand.

4.     Please advise when you will arrive, if you are going to be more 30 minutes late call with an update.  Trucks received after 3 pm may not get done that day or could be subject to a higher labor rate.

Emergency work is different, however, it’s not an emergency if we hear  “oh that lights been on for three days” or “it’s been acting up but I thought it would go longer”.  Waiting to tell us will only add to the cost of the repair and hurts dispatch and the shop.

We have room for approximately 10 trucks on Saturday morning, we can, and will, stay late if needed but not if the truck has sat in our yard (or at home) for several days in advance.

The earlier we know what your needs are the more cost-effective the repair. The additional time we spend trying to get parts, run, etc will now be charged to those owners who do not notify us in advance.

We have no desire to change our current shop rate, or to punish everyone because a few people aren’t communicating, but we do have a big desire to keep our costs down and we need your help.

Thanks,

Lou and Josh
