Benson Road Construction Makes Travel Difficult

Starting Monday, March 11, 2024, the DOT is resuming construction on Benson Road. According to the DOT, “Benson Road will remain [open] to traffic as the contractor works on the south driving lanes of Benson Road from Casco Avenue to I-229. Traffic will be maintained on the north side of Benson Road. Access will be maintained to businesses throughout the project.”

What they don’t say in their release is that this project can make travel more difficult for tractor-trailers. One driver has already noted that the lanes are narrow and poorly marked. If you can avoid travel on Benson between Jessica and 229, you may avoid a headache!

The project is designed to reconstruct nearly two miles of Benson Road and approximately one mile of Interstate 229 ramps. They will be constructing a Diverging Diamond Interchange to improve traffic flow and prepare for future growth in the area. The project is expected to be completed by November 2024.
